Wushan konjac has a long history of planting. The "Wushan County Chronicle" compiled during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty recorded: "The roots and leaves of konjac are black in color, and the roots are firm. The big ones are like bowls, and the small ones are like cups. Think of it as a meal.” In 1987, a Japanese group of konjac experts visited Luoping konjac base in Wushan, and found that the quality of konjac in Wushan was better than that in Gunma County, the main producing area of konjac in Japan.
